Port of Arendal orders LHM 550 Liebherr mobile harbour crane

The Norwegian Port of Arendal has ordered a new LHM 550 Liebherr mobile harbour crane. It is now the largest harbour crane in the south of the country.

The LHM 550 crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 154 tonnes, a jib length of 54 metres, a total weight of 439 tonnes, and a hoisting and lowering maximum speed of 120 metres per minute. The crane was nicknamed the “Hulk” by a local kindergartener, after the Marvel comic character.

Rune Hvass, Port Director at Arendal Havn, stated: “The high level of quality at which Liebherr builds its cranes and, above all, the service concept Liebherr offers were two of the main reasons why we decided to buy a Liebherr mobile harbour crane.”

The crane was equipped with electric drive, a comprehensive service package, and a suitable grab that is coupled with our SmartGrip technology, for increased efficiency. This feature optimises the filling rate of the grab in a self-learning manner.
